An event for 30 people isn't a small wedding, and it isn't a big table either. Everyone knows everyone, everyone can see everyone, and the mood comes from the conversations, not from a stage. That's why the venue does half the work here: it decides whether people stand close together by the bar or drift apart in a huge room, whether the music comes up on time, and whether the host gets to enjoy the night or spends it running between suppliers.
What makes a small evening one people talk about?
1. A space built for your size
40 people in a room made for 40 feels like a party. 40 people in a hall made for 200 feels like someone didn't show up. A space designed for groups of 20 to 50 keeps everyone close, and keeps the energy in the room.
2. The whole place is yours
No table next to you celebrating another birthday, no one else's playlist, no kitchen closing at the public's hours. When the venue closes for you alone, the speeches are heard, your songs are the ones playing, and the dance floor opens when you decide.
3. Food, bar and music under one roof
An evening where the food comes from one supplier, the drinks from another and the speaker from a friend tends to flow less well. When it all comes from the same place, the food arrives on time, the bar keeps going to the end, and whoever runs the music knows the schedule.
4. One person producing it
One conversation, one contact person, and someone who knows your evening before it starts. The host arrives as a guest, not as an event manager.
5. An evening that moves from talking to dancing
The best nights start with a drink and conversation, move on to food and toasts, and end with dancing. A space that knows how to shift between those stages, with the lighting, the layout and the volume, makes each change happen without anyone noticing.
What kind of evening do you want?
Dinner, party, or both
A seated dinner suits a group that wants to talk. A standing party suits a group that wants to dance. From the enquiries we get, most hosts want the mix: start with drinks and bites by the bar, then move to the dance floor.
Who's coming
A group with parents and guests in their 60s will want somewhere to sit and a volume you can talk over in the first hour. A group of 28-year-olds will want the bar close and a DJ. Most parties are a mix, and then the evening is built in two stages: conversation first, dancing after.
How does a 4-hour evening run?
| Time | What happens |
|---|---|
| 20:00 | Guests arrive, first drink and bites by the bar |
| 20:45 | Food, music at conversation volume |
| 21:45 | Toasts, a slideshow on the projector, or the cake |
| 22:15 | Lights go down, music goes up |
| 00:00 | The end |
How do you feed everyone?
In a group of 40 there are almost always a few vegetarians, a vegan or two, or someone avoiding gluten. A menu planned in advance with dishes for everyone saves the questions on the night. Sharing plates and a buffet suit a standing party; plated dishes suit a seated dinner.
When should you book a date?
Thursday, Friday noon and Saturday night
These are the most requested slots for private parties. Thursday is the big night out in Tel Aviv, since most of the city works Sunday to Thursday, and Friday noon (shishi tzohorayim) is a party slot in its own right here. Book 4 to 8 weeks ahead.
Midweek
Sometimes 2 to 3 weeks is enough.
December and before the Jewish holidays
Book 6 weeks ahead, because companies and private groups are all looking at the same weeks.
What does a small event at Ezra include?
Capacity: most groups 20 to 50, up to 60
Ezra is a private bar in Florentin, Tel Aviv, that closes for one group per event. Most groups are 20 to 50 guests, and the space takes up to 60.
Food from the taboon
A sharing-style menu from the taboon, a wood-fired oven. Dairy-vegetarian: no meat, no fish or seafood.
A full bar
Cocktails, wine and beer, behind the bar in the same room as the food and the dance floor.
AV already in the room
A projector and fold-out screen, two microphones, and a PA with two main speakers, a subwoofer, four monitors and a mixer. Lighting is built into the room, and a DJ is possible.
One contact person, in English
One person produces the evening with you from the first message to the end of the night, and the whole conversation can happen in English. In 800 events we've watched this evening go from the first drink to the dance floor again and again.

The bottom line
An evening for 20 to 50 guests works in a space built for the size of the group and closed to everyone else, with food, bar and music in one place and one person producing it. That way the host enjoys the night, and it flows from conversation to the dance floor. For the most requested dates, book 1 to 2 months ahead.
